TOGO: PUPILS BACK IN SCHOOL ON 25 SEPTEMBER

As has been the custom for the past three years, the start of the 2023 school year in Togo will take place in two stages: the start of the teaching year and the start of the learners’ year.

School administrative staff will return on 18 September. Pupils are due to return to school nationwide on 25 September.

This information was made public on Wednesday 06 September 2023 by the Ministry of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education and Handicrafts.

According to the Togolese authorities, this two-stage start to the school year is a measure introduced to ensure that the new academic year runs smoothly.

The special feature of the 2023 school year is the training of school heads in educational management. The government is also announcing that teachers will be trained in appropriate teaching approaches and that schools will be prepared to receive learners. These activities are scheduled for the week of Monday 18 to Friday 22 September 2023.

In the run-up to the start of the new school year, the authorities have imposed a number of rules that pupils will have to comply with from now on. These include uniformity of school dress in both general and technical secondary schools. Throughout the country, students will have to wear the correct uniforms. The Minister of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education and Handicrafts issued a decree to this effect on 02 August.
