Burkina-Faso: Transitional government/The Union of Young Pan-Africans (UJP) reiterates support for President Traoré

Meeting at its General Assembly (GA) this weekend in Ouagadougou, the Union of Young Pan-Africans (UJP) expressed its «unwavering support for the transition» in Burkina Faso, for its unstinting efforts to reconquer the country.

The General Assembly, the first of the Union of Young Pan-Africans (UJP), brought together several hundred delegates at the House of the People in the capital of Burkina Faso.

«Promoting youth awareness, social cohesion and peace, as well as demonstrating their unwavering support for the FDS, VDP and the transition» was the theme chosen by the delegates and developed during the meeting, with the aim of doing their bit in the fight against terrorism currently underway in Burkina Faso.

«The aim of this General Assembly is also, and above all, to give unwavering support to the transition, and in particular to the President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in his efforts to regain and restore the country’s territorial integrity» said the President of the UJP, Ali Ouédraogo.

To achieve this, the members of the UJP intend to contribute to the rereading of a new constitution in line with the social and historical realities and contemporary changes in Burkina Faso.

The movement is also calling for attention to be paid to major construction projects such as popular shareholding. This is a government initiative in which the UJP intends to play an active part in promoting entrepreneurship based on the resources of the people, with a view to supporting the defence and security forces (FDS) and volunteers for the defence of the homeland (VDP) in safeguarding the country.

«We cannot move towards self-determination without working towards endogenous actions. We would like to ask everyone to work at grassroots level to get the message across. We want this popular shareholding to move forward» said Barthélémy Zongo.
