FOOTBAL/LIGA – DAY 7: MAJORCA – FC BARCELONA (2-2)

On Tuesday night, FC Barcelona heads to Palma de Mallorca to face the Majorcan side on matchday seven of La Liga (9:30 p.m.).

Leaders FC Barcelona came from behind twice but will have to be content with a point this time, unlike their previous game against Celta Vigo. Barça had possession (70%), but struggled to look dangerous after their equaliser. Mallorca looked attractive and are 15th.

Barça came close to suffering their first defeat of the season. Trailing 2-0 at the Camp Nou to Celta Vigo with 15 minutes to go, the Catalan club overturned the Galicians (3-2) thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski and the winning goal from Joao Cancelo.

It was a ‘remontada’ that gave the Blaugrana the weekend’s best result, along with Real Madrid’s defeat by Atletico Madrid (1-3).

With sixteen points, Xavi’s side have regained the lead thanks to a better goal difference than Girona, with third-placed Los Merengues just one point behind. On the back of five straight league wins, Barcelona will be keen to continue their fine run against a struggling Balearic outfit.

Sixteenth on five points and one point off the bottom of the table, Javier Aguirre’s side have managed just one win and are coming off a spectacular 3-5 defeat at Girona.
