Togo appointed to chair the International Coffee Organization (ICO)

At the 5th World Coffee Conference that opened in India, Togo was appointed to chair the ICO. It is in this context that Mr. Enselme GOUTCHON, Secretary General of the Coordinating Committee of the Coffee and Cocoa Sectors (CCFCC) was elected to take the presidency of this international organization.

Togo, already vice-president of the organization since the previous year, now has its representative in the highest position of the ICO.

For Enselme Gouthon, this appointment has special significance, as it enshrines and recognizes her commitment to the coffee sector for more than four decades.

On the margins of the conference, the Indian authorities and the Coffee Board of India paid tribute to the Togolese official for his dedication to improving the production and consumption of coffee on an African and global scale, and for supporting farmers’ incomes.

A total of 2,600 delegates from 80 different countries gathered in Bangalore, India for this international event jointly organized by the ICO and the Ministry of Indian Trade.

This presidency represents a significant opportunity for Togo, which is committed to playing a leading role in the global coffee industry.
