Burkina Faso/Russia: Cooperation relations between the two countries are stronger than ever and very beneficial for both parties

Since the renewal and consolidation of bilateral relations between Burkina Faso and the Russian Federation, things have been moving in the right direction, especially between the militaries of the two allied countries. On the security front, cooperation between the country of men of integrity and Moscow is focused on the acquisition of military equipment and the training of personnel.

The numerous visits by the Russian delegation to Ouagadougou are part of this military cooperation framework, to kick-start the objectives they have set themselves. The last major Russian-Burkinabe meeting, on 5 and 6 September, brought together the military authorities of both countries in the capital of Burkina Faso for a working session to share experiences.

The Russian delegation, led by two deputy defence ministers, General-Colonel Younous-Bek EVKOUROV and Mr Timur Vadimovich Ivanov, held talks with the delegation from Burkina Faso, led by the Minister of State, Minister for Defence and Veterans, Colonel-Major Kassoum COULIBALY.

The working and experience-sharing meeting took place between the ministers of the two countries, on the one hand, and the heads of the General Staffs of the Armies of the two countries, on the other, with the aim of strengthening the skills and capabilities of the National Armed Forces.

Strategic issues of cooperation and the various possibilities offered by their relations in the logic of mutually advantageous cooperation were also discussed. The Russian delegation was also received by the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.
