As promised, Captain Isidore Noël Thomas SANKARA, the father of the Burkinabe and African revolution was elevated to the rank of the Hero of the Nation. Everything took place as announced and wanted by Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

It was during the commemorative ceremony of the 36th anniversary of the assassination of this brave man and his 12 companions, on October 15, 1987, on the site of the memorial Thomas SANKARA in Ouagadougou.

Laying of wreaths of flowers by the president of the Transition, captain Ibrahim TRAORE, at the foot of the statue of Thomas SANKARA, laying of the first stone of the mausoleum dedicated to the Hero of the Nation, baptism of the boulevard Charles De Gaulle in boulevard Isidore Noël Thomas SANKARA, were among other activities that marked the day of October 15.

October 15 was also instituted as a national day of tribute to Thomas SANKARA. The most remarkable thing at this ceremony is the mobilization of the population. She came out massively ready to live the elevation of this worthy son, this patriot to the rank of National Hero and salute his memory.

It is still one of the aspirations of this population which finds satisfaction, thanks to the leadership and the enlightened vision of the president TRAORE. Thomas SANKARA embodied by courage, determination, patriotism, was and will always remain a revolutionary victory for Burkinabe and Africans in general.

He will remain in the memory of his admirers, and will always be an inspiration to so many people, like Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, who is considered today as an heir, a successor of Thomas SANKARA. Ibrahim TRAORE deserves support, accompaniment and protection, to continue and complete the work of the National Hero.
