Burkina Faso/ The economic diplomacy of Her Excellency Ms Olivia ROUAMBA: Budgetary restraint and defense of the interests of Burkina Faso

In a tumultuous national and international context, Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and the Burkinabe People from Outside, led the way by adopting a strategic approach to defend the interests of Burkina Faso. At the opening ceremony of the Board of Directors of the Ministerial Sector (CASEM) mid-term 2023, she announced a budget reduction of nearly two billion FCFA for her department. This bold step, while difficult, demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that the country’s limited resources are managed effectively.

The theme of this session of CASEM, «Process of appropriation of the programme budget in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe from outside» reflects the importance of fiscal efficiency in the conduct of Burkina Faso’s international affairs.

The Minister stressed that Burkina Faso faces multiple challenges, including a security and humanitarian crisis as well as budgetary constraints resulting from the late availability of the state budget. Despite these difficulties, Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA remains determined to preserve the interests of the country of Men of integrity.

She emphasized the need to efficiently and effectively readjust business programs based on available resources. This measure will help ensure that Burkinabe diplomacy can actively contribute to the resolution of national issues.

Her Excellency Olivia ROUAMBA has thus traced an exemplary path by showing that budgetary constraints do not necessarily mean a decrease in Burkina Faso’s engagement on the international scene.
