Togo/ President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé: Pioneer of a State Strategist for a sustainable future

On October 16, 2023, at the World Leaders Summit on Investment in Abu Dhabi, the President of the Republic of Togo, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, shared a bold vision. He discussed the need for a Strategic State to address the challenges of sustainable development and strengthen the resilience of populations.

The Togolese Head of State stressed that the response to the emerging challenges facing national economies requires innovative mechanisms. The State Strategist, according to him, plays a key role in ensuring the realization of investments through the public-private partnership.

Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé said, «The focus of my remarks today is in the medium term the role of the state, which I will call a strategist. It is the substantive work on the role of the State that, by 2030, will enable us to fully realize investment ambitions through public-private partnerships».

This ambitious vision was the basis of the Togo 2025 Government Roadmap, an initiative that serves as a guideline and bank of attractive projects for investors. Its fruits are already visible, with fruitful partnerships in the development of an industrial platform in the northern suburbs of Lomé, as well as major achievements in the energy sectors, including the creation of solar power plants and other major projects.

The President also stressed that all these achievements would be possible only by maintaining a climate of peace and stability. He therefore stressed the importance of mechanisms for strengthening stability in developing countries.

The World Leaders Summit on Investment, organized as part of the eighth World Investment Forum, is a showcase of President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé’s innovative vision for a prosperous and resilient Togo. This vision of a Strategic State is not only captivating, but also crucial for the sustainable future of the Togolese nation and, more broadly, for the African continent.
