Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim Traoré Ensures the Right to Healthy Nutrition for Every School-Aged Child

An abundant and healthy diet in schools contributes to the well-being of children and the development of communities. This concern is clearly outlined in Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s social protection programs.

Through a generous initiative of the President of the Burkinabe revolution, the rate of students staying in the school system is expected to improve further. Indeed, a consistent dropout rate has been noted in disadvantaged environments. Among other reasons, hunger led students to skip classes.

The Integrated Program for Support to School Feeding and Nutrition aims to provide every school-aged child with at least one balanced meal per day, achieved through actions involving local product production, preservation, and transformation.

Additionally, the integrated program for support to school feeding and nutrition contributes to the creation of wealth for vulnerable households and small-scale producers by ensuring a sustainable market through the school canteen.

The meals served are generally sourced from local products, which helps create employment opportunities in the region. Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s initiative thus contributes to improving attendance and retention in schools in beneficiary areas.
