Algeria: On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, President Tebboune reiterates his commitment to supporting the struggle of the people of Gaza

On the eve of the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, the President of the Algerian Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune in his message to national and international opinion, returned to the particular and painful conditions marked by the aggression of the barbarian occupier against the Ghaza band and the occupied territories.

«Algeria’s constant commitment to supporting the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people and its just cause to recover all its inalienable and non-negotiable rights, including its right to establish an independent Palestinian State on the borders of 4 June 1967, with El Quds Echarif as its capital, in accordance with UN resolutions and relevant international references». notified President Tebboune.

«This day of solidarity comes at a time when the Palestinian people, in all parts of their land and particularly in the Ghaza Strip, are facing a horrific criminal assault aimed at ethnically eliminating them», he added, Affirming that «the Zionist occupation, which has failed to smother the flame of struggle in the hearts of this resistant people, this time attempts to commit heinous crimes of the rank of crimes against humanity, apartheid and extermination, to eliminate it existentially».

In this regard, President Tebboune noted the need to redouble efforts, to work to ensure the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations, to provide the necessary protection to the Palestinian people, to put an end to the historical injustice of which he is the victim, and to mobilize immediately to save the peace process which is experiencing an unprecedented blockage.

For President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, this will only be possible if the occupation is obliged to comply with the resolutions of international legality, to commit to respect the rules of international law, and to make progress in strengthening the legal and diplomatic achievements of the Palestinian people, in particular by intensifying efforts to enable Palestine to obtain full membership of the United Nations.

An opportunity also for the Algerian President to reiterate Algeria’s categorical rejection of all attempts to erase this just cause, whether through the imposition of the fait accompli policy through which the occupation attempts to undermine the identity of Islamic and Christian holy places in the occupied territories, or to change their demographic composition through its colonization policies, or attempts to circumvent the truths of history and legality.

As a reminder, since 1977, the United Nations General Assembly has requested the Secretary-General of the UN to organize every year, in consultation with the Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, a Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (Resolution 32/40 B of 2 December 1977). The date of 29 November was chosen because of its special significance for the Palestinian people.
