João Félix scores and celebrates against Atletico Madrid

FOOTBALL the Portuguese  striker João Félix may be on loan this season to Barcelona, whom he led to a key win in Sunday’s 1-0 La Liga clash, but he still belongs to Atlético Madrid, his opponents on the night.

«I haven’t thought of anything specific and I don’t know on the day of the match, but we’ll see. Ahead of the Barcelona-Atlético Madrid La Liga clash, Joao Félix played the mystery card in an interview with Movistar +. For his part, Colchoneros president Enrique Cerezo was clear: I hope Joao doesn’t celebrate a goal against us».

In professional football, it is often customary not to celebrate a goal against your former club. The young Portuguese striker is only on loan at Barça, and earlier this year extended his contract with Atlético Madrid until 2027.

And then, as if on cue, Joao Félix, who had been struggling to find his place in Diego Simeone’s Atlético side for so long, scored the only goal of the match on Sunday, breaking down the left flank before poking a delightful shot past Jan Oblak (1-0, 28th).

The Portuguese international then made a sober gesture to the crowd at the Estadio Olimpico de Montjuic, so as not to offend Antoine Griezmann’s team too much. The 24-year-old Portuguese international immediately stood up on the advertising hoardings in front of the Atlético supporters’ stand to snap an already iconic celebration.
