Burkina-Faso / Gaoua Regional University Hospital Center: Captain Ibrahim Traoré lays the foundations for the local healthcare
President of the Transition and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, laid the foundation stone on Thursday, marking the commencement of construction work on the Gaoua Regional University Hospital Center.
The construction of the Gaoua Regional University Hospital Center aims to urgently address the region’s population needs for access to quality healthcare services. «The demand for healthcare facilities is highly pressing». Hence, it is essential to provide this locality with a hospital center worthy of its name.
«It is this urgent need for quality healthcare that led us to initiate this project here in the Southwest», stated the President of the Transition. He emphasized the necessity of addressing developmental issues even in the midst of conflict.
According to the Head of State, the hospital will be delivered as a turnkey project, equipped with all hospital services included. Captain Ibrahim TRAORE expressed the government’s determination «to replicate such projects in different regions to enhance the technical capabilities of healthcare facilities».
The Regional Governor, Police Commissioner Boureima SAVADOGO, expressed his delight regarding the realization of this long-awaited project by the Southwest’s population.
The representative of the construction company responsible for executing the works, Olivier Picard, pledged to deliver a high-quality infrastructure commensurate with the trust vested in his company’s selection.
Beyond the quality expected for this infrastructure, the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, who launched the project on behalf of the Head of State, urges the company to adhere strictly to the deadlines and specifications outlined.
With a construction cost exceeding 45 billion CFA francs, the Gaoua Regional University Hospital Center will have a capacity of over 300 beds and will be built on an area spanning 25 hectares.
