Cameroon: Reintegration of Gabon into ECCAS, situation of former President Ali Bongo…, Brice Oligui Nguema and Paul Biya under discussion

The president of the Gabonese transition Brice Oligui Nguema was visiting Cameroon on Wednesday at his counterpart Paul Biya. The highlights of the exchanges between the two personalities, the situation of former President Ali Bongo, still under house arrest in Libreville while the transitional authorities had announced that he is free of his movements.

On behalf of the relations that the Cameroonian president had with Omar Bongo the late father of Ali Bongo, Paul Biya pleaded for Ali Bongo, the one he considers a son, but also for his family. According to information, discussions also focused on cooperation issues and the situation in Gabon.

It should be remembered that the country was suspended from the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) the day after the coup. The Gabonese president pleaded for his reintegration especially that, ECCAS will hold an extraordinary summit on December 15 in Malabo.

For the Gabonese president, the stakes of bilateral cooperation between Gabon and Cameroon «are huge and it is a return to standardization and great diplomacy between Yaoundé and Libreville».

The visit is also part of the tour initiated by Brice Oligui Nguema since taking power in Gabon.
