Burkina Faso: Decoration of Personalities, an Encouragement for Further Commitment to the Nation’s Cause

A formal honorary distinction ceremony for several personalities took place in Ouagadougou on Friday, December 8, 2023, presided over by the transitional President and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE. According to reports, the ceremony was part of the celebration marking the 63rd anniversary of Burkina Faso’s independence.

A total of 357 individuals were honored, with 205 receiving the Order of the Stallion and 152 being recognized in the Order of Merit, each receiving their medal of distinction. This recognition was bestowed upon them for their dedication, determination, tangible actions, and ultimate sacrifices in fostering the progress of the nation, particularly in achieving total independence on all fronts.

Similar to the government’s spokesperson during the transitional period, Minister of Communication Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, who was awarded the Officer of the Order of the Stallion medal, other notable figures including Minister of State and Minister of Public Service Bassolma Bazié, along with several personalities from the public administration, private sector, religious and traditional communities, cultural sector, and rural areas, have contributed significantly to the advancement of the nation.

This recognition of their sacrifices for the nation is a way for the country’s authorities to encourage not only the recipients but the entire Burkinabe population to dedicate themselves to the nation’s cause. Given the significant challenges faced by Burkina Faso, it’s crucial for all Burkinabes to unite in order to proudly represent their beloved homeland.
