Burkina Faso / President Ibrahim Traoré : Guardian of Security in the Land of Honest Men

As the year-end festivities approach, President Ibrahim Traoré has reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to the security of the Burkinabè citizens. In a context where the celebration of joy and fraternity coincides with security challenges, the government under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré is implementing an exceptional plan to ensure the tranquility of the population across the entire country.

In this effort, the Minister Delegate for Security, Mahamadou Sana, outlined an ambitious security plan involving domestic forces and the national defense. The gendarmerie, national police, and Forest and Water Forces will jointly mobilize to enhance the security of individuals and their property, thereby demonstrating the strategic coordination established to address security challenges.

The minister emphasized the importance of adhering to instructions issued by authorities, including caution on roads, strict compliance with restricted traffic zones, speed limitations, and courtesy towards security personnel. He also encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activity and to follow directives in case of a potential terrorist threat.

The coordination center, activated since December 15, 2023, will play a central role in securing the festivities. Document checks, patrols in sensitive areas, and object searches will be conducted in Ouagadougou by law enforcement. Agents will also be deployed to roundabouts and intersections to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

Mahamadou Nana insisted that this security arrangement will be extended to all localities in the country, thus reinforcing the protection of Burkinabè citizens during this crucial period.

In order to further enhance security, the government is considering the creation of a media brigade dedicated to securing the national territory. Lieutenant Colonel Diabri called on citizens to use the provided emergency numbers to report any suspicious activity, thereby strengthening collaboration between security forces and the population.

In this celebratory period, the Burkinabè government remains committed to ensuring the security of its citizens and their property, illustrating its dedication to the protection and well-being of the nation.
