Burkina Faso/Peace Effort : Salutary and Praiseworthy Humanitarian Gestures From Burkinabè

Following the recent call from the transitional president and head of state, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, the people of Burkina Faso are rallying massively in support of the needy and the patriotic solidarity fund. At the beginning of 2024, various contributions of all kinds have been recorded across the country.

The initiative of the women from the Loroum province in the North of Burkina Faso has not gone unnoticed. These women, organized within the Provincial Coordination of Women’s Organizations of Loroum and the Communal Coordination of Women’s Organizations of Titao, have mobilized massively to contribute to the peace effort.

Specifically, a sum of one million ten thousand CFA francs (1.010.000f) was handed over on Monday, January 8, 2024, to the commissioner of the Loroum province, Djibril Bassolé. A commendable and generous gesture, aimed at supporting the efforts of the defense and security forces in the reconquest of the national territory, as stated by the spokesperson.

But that’s not all ; a donation of food items for the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) was also handed over to Captain Djibril Bassolé by these patriotic women, numbering around 5.000. In addition to the women from Loroum, the leaders of the Christian Television, Impact TV, have also reportedly thought of the less fortunate, especially the widows and orphans of the fallen combatants (FDS and VDP) on the battlefield.

In Ouagadougou on Tuesday, January 9, they handed over their donation of food to the central director of social action and injured personnel in operations. The donation primarily consists of 15 tons of rice, couscous, maize, macaroni, and cooking oil with a total value of 16 million CFA francs.

Clothing and shoes are also part of this gesture. These acts of generosity and solidarity call upon every Burkinabé citizen. The combat forces and their families are sacrificing themselves so that peace may return to the country and their fellow countrymen can continue their activities freely.

In this regard, they deserve the support and assistance shown through such gestures, enabling them to focus more on their mission of securing and defending the homeland.
