Mali : President Assimi GOÏTA, Exchange with Three New Ambassadors of Mali Abroad

The transitional president, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, received in audience on Monday, January 22, 2024, three new ambassadors from Mali who are starting their missions abroad. These ambassadors will be serving in Germany, Ethiopia, and Morocco.

Before taking up their respective posts, the three new diplomats expressed their gratitude to the Transitional President Assimi GOÏTA  for the trust he has placed in them. They also sought his guidance and support to strengthen relations between Mali and these countries.

Cheick Mahamadou Cherif KEÏTA, the new ambassador of Mali to Germany with residence in Berlin, explained that his mission is to strengthen cooperation between Mali and the Federal Republic of Germany, the first foreign country to recognize Mali’s independence.

In Addis Ababa, the Malian representation is now led by Mr. Amadou DIALLO. His mission covers six countries : Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti, Somalia, and Uganda. According to the new ambassador of Mali in Addis Ababa, efforts will be focused on enhancing cooperation with these countries and international organizations to consolidate Mali’s openness to the world.

The mission of the third ambassador, Mr. Fafre CAMARA, the ambassador of Mali to Morocco, will be centered on promoting dynamic relations between Mali and the Kingdom of Morocco. He emphasized the urgency of resuming the Mali-Morocco joint commission, which has been suspended for some time.

The Head of State urged the new ambassadors to be the voices of Mali in decision-making, following the three principles that now guide the country: respect for national sovereignty, respect for strategic choices, and the choice of partners made by Mali.
