In Niger, the CJDN organizes a collective prayer to celebrate the withdrawal from ECOWAS

On Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Place de la Résistance in Niamey, the Collective of Determined Youth of Niamey (CJDN), in collaboration with religious leaders in Niger, organized a collective prayer to celebrate the historic decision of Niger to withdraw from ECOWAS.

Under the leadership of Imam Oustaz Alio Idriss, the prayer brought together several religious leaders and representatives of Nigerien civil society. After the koutouba, the two rakats, invocations, Quran readings, sermons, and kounout were pronounced in the hope of promoting peace in the country.

At the end of the prayer, CJDN President Mr. Ibrahim Boubacar stated: « We have conducted our 30th activity of Quranic readings, kounout, sermons, and awareness in collaboration with preachers. It is no longer a secret that Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger have recently declared their withdrawal from ECOWAS in a joint announcement ».

«Today is a source of pride for us. The population has long awaited Niger’s withdrawal from ECOWAS because this organization has brought us nothing. It should be noted that at one point, our country faced insecurity, and ECOWAS never issued a statement to express its compassion for the situation in Niger. Instead, ECOWAS, in collaboration with some African heads of state, convened in Nigeria to impose cynical, inhumane, and illegal sanctions against our country ».

« I appeal to the entire Nigerien population : it is always time to fight, it is not the time to give up. It is now time for Nigeriens to take on our responsibilities and provide unwavering support to the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) ».
