Ivory Coast/Football : It’s Official, Faé Emerse Is the New Coach of the Elephants

Assistant coach of the Elephants at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Faé Emerse, was confirmed as the head coach of Ivory Coast on Monday, February 19, 2024. This was announced by the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).

The announcement was made by the president of the Ivorian Football Federation, Yacine Idriss Diallo, during the trophy presentation at Oronge Côte d’Ivoire, the leading partner of the Elephants, according to FIF’s clarification.

With the victory at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Faé Emerse becomes the second Ivorian national coach to win the continental competition, after Yéo Martial in 1992. He also joins the list of fourteen African national coaches who have won the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) with their respective countries.

Before his confirmation, his now former boss, Jean-Louis Gasset, is rumored to be joining the French club Olympique de Marseille, according to several media outlets citing internal sources.
