Mali/Social Welfare/Lenten Season: President Assimi Goïta supports the Christian community
To show his support for the Christian community of Mali during this time of fasting and prayers, President of the transition and Head of State, Colonel Assimi Goïta, has made a donation of food supplies, benefiting notably Catholic and Protestant Christians.
This gesture is part of his solidarity program, supported by his commitment to allocate two-thirds of his sovereign funds to those in need. Before this action towards Christians, several other humanitarian gestures can be attributed to this presidential initiative, aiming to foster a spirit of solidarity and unity among all Malians.
Specifically for the Catholic community, Cardinal Jean Zerbo of the Archdiocese of Bamako received significant quantities of rice, oil, and pasta from the Head of State, handed over by the team responsible for implementing the social welfare program.
At the headquarters of the Association of Groupings of Churches and Evangelical Protestant Missions in Mali (AGEMPEM), a similar donation was presented to Reverend Pastor Dr. Nouh Ag Infa Yattara, also on behalf of the Head of State.
This is not only a way to support Christians in these difficult times but also to demonstrate the importance of solidarity and the necessity of working together as sons and daughters of the same Nation, so that peace and stability may return to the country.
The beneficiaries, in turn, did not hesitate to express their joy and satisfaction for this generous gesture, which alleviates the hardships of the needy within the Christian community. They also offered their prayers and supplications to God for peace in the country and the success of the transition.
