Burkina Faso : « Since 2023, several bases and training camps have been destroyed… », Minister of security

Burkina Faso experienced a series of coordinated attacks in several regions of the country on Sunday, February 25, 2024. Despite these assaults, the Burkinabe defense forces responded firmly, inflicting significant losses on the enemy while maintaining control of the attacked positions, stated the Minister Delegate for Security, Mahamadou Sana.

During a televised statement on Monday, February 16, in the 8 p.m. news bulletin, Police Commissioner Mahamadou Sana highlighted the coordinated and simultaneous nature of the attacks, while praising the professionalism and courage of the Burkinabe defense forces. Thanks to their intervention, the enemy suffered considerable losses, both in terms of human lives and material.

« We faced several simultaneous attacks on our territory. Thanks to the bravery of our armed forces, we were able to respond effectively, supported by our aerial resources. The enemy suffered significant losses, and I want to reassure the population that our positions are maintained », the minister declared.

Mahamadou Sana emphasized that this firm response sent a clear message to the enemy, warning them that any future attempt at attack would be met with the same determination. He also called on the population to remain calm and cooperate with the security forces to strengthen the country’s security.

The minister also interpreted these attacks as a sign of the enemy’s growing weakness, resulting from the actions taken by the Burkinabe government to neutralize it. « These attacks reflect the desperation of the enemy, which is seriously weakened by our efforts. We have dismantled several of their bases and training camps, cut off their sources of funding, and secured their supply routes. The Burkinabe people remain united and determined to defend their country against these attacks », he added. Mahamadou Sana concluded by emphasizing the crucial importance of the population’s engagement in the fight against terrorism, stressing that national solidarity was essential to ensure the security and stability of Burkina Faso.
