Togo/Elections : Candidacy submission, one more week for latecomers
Originally set for Wednesday, February 28th, the deadline for the submission of candidacy files for the legislative and regional elections has been postponed to Wednesday, March 6th, 2024.
This announcement by the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) follows the postponement of the date of the double election, by presidential decree issued on February 24th. Additionally, the President of the Republic reduced the deposit fees for both consultations.
As a reminder, the new date for the legislative and regional elections is now set for April 20th instead of the originally scheduled April 13th. Therefore, it was judicious for the CENI to also postpone the deadline for the submission of candidacy files, to allow all interested parties to register on the list of candidates.
According to information provided by the CENI, candidacy applications for deputies are deposited at the Commission’s headquarters, while those for regional councilors are received at the headquarters of each Local Independent Electoral Commission (CELI).
This process takes place every working day from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, except on the last day when files will be accepted from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to midnight, as specified by the CENI in its communication to political parties.
