Togo/Development: Implementation of Socio-Economic infrastructure, The AfDB Group plans to play Its cards

For the implementation of socio-economic infrastructure projects within the framework of the Head of State’s vision for development, the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is willing to support government projects. This was indicated by the current leader of the financial institution during his recent visit to Togo.

Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), visited Lomé, Togo, and held talks with the Togolese President, Faure Essozimna GNASSINGBE, on Tuesday, February 27th. The discussions revolved around the partnership between the African financial institution and Togo.

Among the common interests discussed were industrialization and the development of socio-economic infrastructure, which are enlightened visions of the Togolese President. Regarding social infrastructure such as roads, the AfDB official mentioned the Lomé-Cinkassé road.

He emphasized its significance as a crucial corridor, requiring an investment of $2.9 billion. He stated that investor mobilization is underway for the realization of this ambitious project, which will positively impact Togo’s image.

In addition to this project, the AfDB expressed its willingness to also support the government in its process of improving the healthcare system to provide quality and more accessible healthcare to the population. The President of the AfDB expressed his intention to invest in Togo’s healthcare infrastructure for this purpose.

It is noteworthy that the current portfolio of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Togo covers several strategic projects, including agro-poles, the development of agro-food processing industries, road rehabilitation, and renewable energies.
