Football : Nigeria vs. Argentina match cancelled due to administrative reasons

The friendly match scheduled between Argentina and Nigeria in Los Angeles has been ultimately canceled. This is unfortunate news for the vice-champions of Africa who were hoping to gauge themselves against the reigning world champions. Administrative reasons were cited to justify this cancellation.

Nigeria is now forced to find another opponent as the match originally planned against Argentina has been called off. In a statement released this Tuesday, the Argentine Football Association confirmed the information.

« Due to an administrative visa issue, the Nigerian national team will not be able to play their match against the Argentine national team scheduled for the double date in March in the United States », the AFA note states.

Following this, Argentina announced that they have reached an agreement with another team for the same dates (March 22 and 26). Costa Rica will now be the opponent of the Albiceleste in this double friendly confrontation in the United States.

On their part, Nigeria, now without an opponent, is already working hard to find one. The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) considers this international window crucial in preparation for the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
