Thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappé, PSG dominates Real Sociedad (1-2) and qualifies for the quarter-finals

Kylian Mbappé enabled PSG to secure their ticket to the quarter-finals by easily defeating a weak Real Sociedad side (1-2, 1-4 aggregate) on their home turf. The Parisians ultimately had a relaxed evening despite the late goal from the Basques and will thus see the quarter-finals for the first time since 2021.

Three years later, Paris Saint-Germain returns to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. At the heart of all discussions before the match, four days after his coach substituted him at halftime against Monaco, it was inevitably Kylian Mbappé who enabled the capital club to continue their European adventure, thanks to a brace that secured victory for the Ligue 1 leaders (1-2).

This time, no « remontada », no disappointed hopes, Parisian supporters can breathe easy. Certainly, there was probably a bigger test than facing a team that has won only one of its last ten matches, still marked by elimination in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey just a week earlier, but with this team that has accustomed us to the worst, it’s not a performance to downplay.

His splendid right-footed strike, after he had outmaneuvered former Rennes player Hamari Traoré and his partner Igor Zubeldia, sent a shiver through the warm crowd at the Reale Arena and allowed his team to further assert their dominance in the game. Close to scoring a brace (29th minute), the captain of the French national team then put an end to any suspense shortly after the halftime break.

Taking advantage of another superb collective play and a perfect delivery from Kang-In Lee, who came on at halftime in place of Barcola, he found himself alone facing Remiro, whom he calmly beat from the left side of the box with a shot to the near post (0-2, 56th minute). To top it all off, he played the entire match for the first time since the first leg.
