Pan-African Congress 2024 : Bamako, the Malian capital, to host preparatory conference
The 9th Pan-African Congress announced for this year in Lomé, Togo, is in its preparatory phase, with conferences by region. After South Africa for the Southern Africa region, Mali has been chosen to host the preparatory conference for the West African region, announced the Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Robert Dussey.
According to the information, it will take place from March 14th to 15th in Bamako, the capital of Mali, under the theme « Diasporas, Afro-descendants, and Development ». This provides an opportunity for participants to make concrete proposals that will be studied at the meeting in Lomé.
After Bamako, five other preparatory conferences will follow in different regions before the grand congress in Lomé, according to the information. As a reminder, the Pan-African Congress, which will be held in Lomé, the ninth of its kind, aims to bring together the sons and daughters of the continent, whether they are inside or outside, as well as Afro-descendants, around one table.
This is for discussions and reflections on the future of the continent and the contribution of each for its effective, sustainable development, and its emergence on the international stage. The theme chosen for the 9th edition of this Pan-African meeting is « Renewal of Pan-Africanism and the Place of Africa in Global Governance : Mobilizing Resources and Reinventing Oneself to Act ».
Africa has long been disadvantaged to the benefit of certain countries. It is time to reverse this trend through concrete actions and determination. This is the daily struggle of Pan-Africans, and this congress is part of this perspective.
