Togo : The Peoples of AES express their confidence in Faure Gnassingbé for a new Africa

Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé has made peace and stability in the sub-region and Africa his priorities.Despite some irritation among his peers regarding his diplomacy in mediating crises in the sub-region, it is undeniable that his activism has achieved success.

Often sought after in resolving crises in the sub-region, Faure Gnassingbé now enjoys unanimous support among African peoples, particularly those of Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali (Alliance of Sahel States) for his efforts in maintaining peace in the Sahel.

The peoples of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) express their gratitude to Faure Gnassingbé for his mediation in the political-judicial standoff between Bamako and Abidjan, which led to the release, in January 2023, of 49 Ivorian soldiers held in Mali for six months.

In addition to Mali, Faure Gnassingbé’s diplomatic leadership has greatly contributed to an agreement on the withdrawal of French forces from Niger.

Initially chosen by the authorities of Niger to facilitate dialogue with the international community, including ECOWAS, and later confirmed by the Conference of Heads of State of the sub-regional organization as a mediator, Faure Gnassingbé has achieved successes: the release of Salem Mohamed Bazoum, son of the deposed president Mohamed Bazoum.

In addition to this first diplomatic success, there is the lifting of ECOWAS sanctions against Niger, which occurred a few days after Faure Gnassingbé’s visit to his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara.

Economically, under the impetus of the Togolese president, the Autonomous Port of Lomé is now accessible to Niger for the import and export of its goods, in order to strengthen its economic resilience. It should be noted that Faure has always expressed his readiness towards transitions.

Aware of the key role the Togolese president has played in maintaining stability in the Sahel, the peoples of AES countries express their gratitude and congratulate the president for his efforts.

According to these populations, Faure Gnassingbé is laying the groundwork for a new Africa with a powerful and effective weapon to destroy any negative forms in Africa: the weapon of peace through dialogue.
