Burkina Faso : President Traoré provides Ziniaré with a fire station

Ziniaré now has a fire station. In line with President Traoré desire to bring state assistance services closer to the population, a fire station has been erected in Ziniaré, a town located about thirty kilometers from Ouagadougou.

Burkina Faso now has its 13th company of firefighters. Built in Ziniaré on an area of 14,621 m², in the Zagbèga neighborhood, this brigade, under the command of Lieutenant Pascal Benoît Oulé, has been in operation since September 2023.

However, it was officially inaugurated on March 14th. The objective is to bring this paramilitary unit closer to the population to provide better assistance and strengthen their operational capabilities.

The construction of the Ziniaré fire station is entirely financed by the state budget. It is equipped with logistics currently consisting of three vehicles and appropriate firefighting and accident intervention equipment. These were officially presented to the public during the inauguration ceremony.

Its mission is to intervene in three provinces, namely Ganzourgou, Kourweogo, and Oubritenga, which make up the town of Ziniaré, estimated to have a population of 978,614 inhabitants according to the latest general population and housing census of 2019.

Present at the official ceremony, Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Security, Emile Zerbo, expressed his satisfaction with the commissioning of the 13th company of the National Fire Brigade, which already has three major rescue interventions to its credit. This explains the choice of Ziniaré to host this fire station.

« Ziniaré is a crossroads town, and from this position, the response to various requests for assistance can be made more quickly to all arteries in the intervention area of this unit », the minister said.

Firefighters are dedicated to intervening in emergency situations to ensure the safety of property and individuals (road accidents, gas leaks, fainting, drownings, natural disasters, assaults…) ; to transport the injured who require it to the nearest hospital…
