Togo : Head of State, Faure Gnassingbé, launches construction of “Development” bridges to address population needs

Through this groundbreaking ceremony, President Faure Gnassingbé reinforces his policy of opening up rural areas to facilitate access to basic socio-economic services for the population, in line with the government’s roadmap. According to this policy, a total of 21 bridges will be constructed to connect several localities, spanning across the five economic regions of Togo.

Thus, this first groundbreaking ceremony in Kolidè, in the Ogou 2 commune, Plateaux region, officially initiates the construction works for the “development” bridges throughout Togo. The construction of these bridges, scheduled to be completed within 36 months, aligns with the Togolese president’s ambition to transform Togo into a business center and a logistical hub.

Furthermore, the construction of these structures is the Togolese government’s response to the aspirations and needs of the population in terms of economic activities, the development of national trade, and much more. Additionally, these projects materialize the vision of a developed country nurtured by the Togolese executive, as it is often said, « the road to development passes through the development of roads ». All of this contributes to the country’s development as outlined in the National Development Plan.

Convinced of the importance of modernizing infrastructure, the Togolese government has, in recent years, invested billions in the construction of the road network in Lomé and across the country. The realization of the 21 bridges across Togo is a perfect illustration of this commitment.
