Burkina Faso: Strengthening of national defense through citizen engagement

Last week, President Ibrahim Traoré officially handed over a dozen Turkish-made drones to the Burkinabe army. These equipment were acquired through the generous contributions of Burkinabe citizens, demonstrating their commitment and unwavering support for the country’s armed forces.

These state-of-the-art drones will significantly enhance the army’s surveillance and intelligence capabilities, allowing for better anticipation and more effective response to the security threats facing Burkina Faso.

Burkinabe citizens are increasingly mobilizing to defend the freedom and future of their country, showing remarkable solidarity in the face of the security challenges confronting Burkina Faso. Their commitment and active contribution have strengthened the arsenal of the national army with the acquisition of a series of essential military equipment.

This valuable batch includes 7 armored ambulances, 40 troop transport trucks to ensure soldiers’ mobility in the field, 20 fuel tankers to ensure logistical autonomy for operations, as well as 4 pick-up trucks and 2 armored buses for secure personnel transportation.

Furthermore, this citizen mobilization has enabled the acquisition of 2 Temsah-type armored vehicles, thereby enhancing the Burkinabe army’s ability to address various security threats, ranging from terrorist attacks to intercommunal conflicts.

This initiative reflects the collective will of the Burkinabe people to support their armed forces in their mission to protect the nation and preserve peace on the national territory.
