Burkina Faso: H.E. Joachim Kyelem of Tambela believes it is time to diversify partnerships.

Mr. Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela, the Head of Government, has pointed the finger at the behaviour of some friends of Burkina Faso on the military level. He believes that it is time to diversify partnerships.

“How can countries that have control of the space with modern means of detection, if they are our true friends, not give us the necessary information on the actions and movements of terrorists? He added: “We try, as much as possible, to diversify our partnerships. But there will be no question of letting ourselves be dominated by any one partner”.

According to the Head of Government, Burkina Faso does not feel prejudiced in the implementation of the defence agreements currently in force. “In the current state, there is no partner who can say that he is restricting us in our partnership relations. Clarifications have already been made to some. And in the relations that we will engage with new partners, this will be at the centre of our concerns.

Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachim Kyelem de Tambela also said that a thorough reorganisation of the army was underway and that land and air combat equipment had been acquired thanks to the facilitation of certain neighbours.

In addition to the fight against terrorism and the reconquest of the national territory, the Head of Government also highlights projects for agricultural, health, educational and social policies.
