Nigeria/Culture: Nigerian Singer Tiwa Savage showcases a new facet of her talent
She played an acting role in the film “Water and Garri”. This marked the actress’s acting debut as well as the director, Meji Alabi, who was working on his first project. The singer, who has collaborated with artists such as Sam Smith, Chris Martin from Coldplay, and Nas, plays the role of Aisha in this Prime Video production.
The performer of “Koroba” is also the executive producer of the feature film for which she wrote and produced the soundtrack. “Water and Garri” is part of Prime Video’s authentic African series and films initiative, which aims to introduce films from the region to a wider audience.
« It’s a drama. It’s the story of a girl named Aisha, whom I portray, and it’s a story of love and betrayal, you know, she left her neighborhood to pursue her dreams of becoming a fashion stylist, and obviously when she came back home, a lot of things had changed. And that’s where the drama begins », said actress Tiwa Savage.
The film will premiere on Prime Video starting May 10th.
