AES : Algeria in the Sahel, between hypocrisy or disturbing game ?

The recent decisions by Algeria regarding the closure of loan accounts intended for Sahelian countries have sent shockwaves through the region, raising legitimate questions about the true intentions of the Algerian government.

These actions, coupled with the relentless onslaught by Algerian government media against the countries of the Alliance of the Sahel States (AES), cast doubt on Algeria’s commitment to the stability and development of the region.

For years, Algeria has been the venue for numerous international meetings aimed at finding solutions to the security and socio-economic challenges facing Sahelian countries. However, Algeria’s recent actions cast serious doubt on the credibility of these initiatives. Were these meetings simply empty rhetoric, diplomatic hypocrisy intended to mask Algeria’s true intentions ?

Algerian government media have engaged in a vicious campaign against AES countries, adding fuel to the already intense tensions in the region. This hostile attitude raises concerns about Algeria’s possible hidden agenda. Is Algeria seeking to keep Sahelian countries in a state of perpetual crisis to serve its own political and geostrategic interests?

In this context, it is crucial to support AES authorities in their quest for sovereignty and development. No country should face unjustified external pressures that compromise its integrity and its ability to make sovereign decisions for the good of its citizens.

It is time for Algeria to clarify its intentions and reaffirm its commitment to the stability and development of the Sahel. Unilateral actions and media attacks against AES countries only exacerbate tensions and hinder efforts to promote peace and prosperity in the region.

Algeria must be transparent with AES countries. Hypocrisy and political maneuvering will only prolong the suffering of Sahelian populations and compromise regional security.
