AES Confederation: Mali will host the next summit of Heads of State
According to the internal regulations of the council of heads of state of the “Alliance of Sahel States” confederation, adopted and made public after the first summit of AES leaders on Saturday, July 6th in Niamey, the second meeting of the leaders will take place in Bamako, the capital of Mali.
As stipulated in Section IV of the regulations governing the Confederation and the various sessions of the heads of state of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), the presidency is rotating and held by the member designated by the council for a one-year term, based on agreed-upon criteria.
Section I, Article 1 of the internal regulations clearly states that the sessions of the council of heads of state are held in the country that holds the presidency of the Confederation. Since the Malian transitional president, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, was chosen by his peers as the president of the AES Confederation during the first summit, the next session will naturally be organized in Mali.
It is important to note that the selection of the Malian head of state was not by chance. According to official information, he was designated based on his seniority in revolutionary action, which has since enabled the Republic of Mali to achieve better results, particularly in terms of security.
The current acting president of the AES Confederation, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, reaffirmed his commitment and determination, with the support of his peers, to uphold the values and principles of this organization, which is, above all, the organization of the people.
