AES: Is France seeking to weaken the Alliance of Sahel States by destabilizing Togo first?

0

Recent information reveals a plan allegedly orchestrated by the Directorate General for External Security (DGSE) aimed at weakening the Sahel States Alliance (AES) by first targeting Togo. This strategy, devious in nature, would involve financing certain leaders of the Togolese opposition and civil society organizations to sow chaos and make the country ungovernable. The ultimate goal would be to create instability that could serve as leverage to destabilize all AES member countries.

According to some Pan-Africanists, the plan seeks to turn Togo into a strategic rear base. Instability in this country, which supports the AES under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, would weaken regional solidarity. With Ghana undergoing a political transition following the arrival of a new president, which muddles its alignment, Togo becomes a key target. Weakening Togo could allow external forces to reposition their strategic interests and undermine the AES, which is seen as a threat to their influence.

In the face of these maneuvers, it is crucial for Togolese authorities and AES member countries to remain vigilant. The stability of Togo is a bulwark against any attempts to destabilize the entire alliance. The cohesion and vigilance of the Sahelian peoples and their leaders are more necessary than ever to counter these plans that seek to hinder the momentum of sovereignty and cooperation among African countries.
