AES: Niger asserts its sovereignty, the European Union must respect its decision

0

It is high time for the European Union to understand that Niger has chosen its sovereignty and independence, a choice that reflects the will of its people to take control of their destiny.

The Nigerien authorities have not sought external assistance and are acting according to national priorities, particularly in the areas of security, economic development, and stability. The European Union would be better advised to focus on issues that concern its own geographical area and citizens, such as managing economic, migratory, and climate-related crises.

Niger, like any sovereign nation, has the right to freely choose its alliances, partnerships, and development trajectory, without facing pressure or interference.

This clear stance by the Nigerien authorities reflects a new dynamic in Africa, a growing assertion of state sovereignty in the face of international relations often marked by historical imbalances.

Respecting this sovereign decision is not only a matter of honoring international law principles, but also laying the foundation for more equitable international cooperation, based on mutual respect and shared interests.
