AES: Will travel documents soon be harmonized?

The Confederation of the States of the Sahel States Alliance (AES), which includes Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali, is on the verge of reaching a crucial milestone to strengthen regional integration. The specifications for the common travel documents have been harmonized, with only the validation by the Heads of State remaining for their official adoption.

This initiative aims to simplify the movement of people and boost trade between the three countries. Additionally, the authorities plan to remove administrative barriers that hinder mobility and cross-border exchanges.

For the citizens of AES, this represents a significant step towards concrete regional integration. These efforts reflect the leaders’ determination to strengthen economic and social ties while asserting their autonomy in the face of common challenges.

Once validated, this harmonization will mark a decisive step in building a more unified and functional regional community, offering new opportunities for trade, tourism, and cooperation between member states.
