Africa: Cooperation between African countries, an imperative

Certainly, and this is an imperative, Africa must unite; the rest of French-speaking Africa should follow the example of the countries of the Sahel. This is the wish of the African people: synergy of action, South-South cooperation and unity in the face of the rest of the world, especially France with its unbalanced policy towards Africa.

Burkina-Faso’s determination, with President Ibrahim Traoré at the forefront, to combat terrorist groups is salutary. Armed groups are being hunted down all over Burkina Faso. The army is conducting a veritable hunt for terrorists throughout the country.

This fight is now coordinated. Burkina-Faso, Niger and Mali, all countries affected by terrorism, are pooling their efforts and resources to combat it. Today, this synergy of action between the countries of the Sahel seems to be a necessity in the face of the various security and development challenges.

What if the countries affected by this phenomenon (Gulf of Guinea countries: Togo, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, etc.) joined forces to cooperate militarily and even across the board? Or, what if African leaders rethought the ideology of the late Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi on the «United States of Africa»? Because, as the Ivorian artist Tiken Jah Fakoly says in his song, «when we are united, it will hurt and we will be able to impose ourselves…».
