Africa – EU: Pan-Africanist Bekki Benameur denounces French media manipulation aimed at influencing European Union decisions

The manipulation of information by certain French media outlets has resurfaced, this time at the heart of a controversy involving several French journalists. On Monday, March 10th in Cairo, during a press conference, Bekki Benameur, Secretary General of the NGO Aimons Notre Afrique (ANA), strongly condemned the dubious practices aimed at discrediting African organizations and personalities. Behind these media campaigns lies an obvious attempt to influence European political decisions regarding the African continent.
Media outlets like Libération, Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF), and RFI have been criticized for disseminating unfounded accusations, thereby influencing the European Union to impose unjustified sanctions. These measures were taken without prior investigation, highlighting a glaring lack of journalistic rigor and ethics. In response to the complaints filed against these decisions before the European Court of Justice, some French journalists now find themselves searching for evidence to justify their own claims.
Reports suggest that pressure was exerted on Africans, who were approached by these same journalists to provide elements that would support the already made accusations. This attempt to fabricate evidence post-sanctions underscores the fragility of the case and the inconsistency of the European decision-making process. Bekki Benameur goes further, claiming that French intelligence agents may also be involved in this disinformation campaign.
In light of this situation, the pan-African leader announced that the identities of those behind this media manipulation will soon be revealed. He stressed the need to expose these questionable practices and to allow both African populations and the international community access to the truth. A fundamental question remains: how could the European Union have imposed such sanctions in the absence of verified evidence?
