Africa: Medals for courage and dedication, Niger honors its Defense and Security Forces
General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the CNSP and Head of State of Niger, has recently taken a significant measure by signing an ordinance establishing a medal for internal operations theaters.
This medal is specifically designed to recognize and reward personnel of the Defense and Security Forces who have distinguished themselves in internal operations theaters, even if they had to disengage due to illness, injury, or posthumously, due to death.
The introduction of this medal aims to express the government’s recognition of the Defense and Security Forces, who have shown bravery and dedication in the performance of their duties. These men and women have made enormous sacrifices, sometimes at the risk of their own lives, to preserve the peace, tranquility, and security of the Nigerien population.
In parallel, another medal, named “Sarauniya Mangou”, is also instituted. This medal is intended to reward individuals or legal entities of Nigerien nationality who have distinguished themselves through acts of patriotism, commitment, and sacrifice for the cause of national sovereignty.
These two medals illustrate Niger’s commitment to recognizing and honoring those who contribute significantly to the security and prosperity of the nation, whether within the security forces or within civil society. They also underline the importance given to the promotion of values such as patriotism and devotion to the homeland.
Furthermore, this initiative reflects the government’s determination to strengthen the morale and motivation of the Defense and Security Forces, as well as the population as a whole, by publicly recognizing acts of courage and dedication that contribute to the protection and preservation of the nation.
