Africa : The reconquest of Mourdiah by the Malian Armed Forces, a decisive step in the fight against terrorism

The Malian Armed Forces have announced that they have regained control of the Mourdiah camp, located in the southwest of the country. « The General Staff of the Armed Forces informs the national and international public that the Malian Army have responded to the terrorist attack on the Mourdiah camp », the army’s statement said.

The professionalism of the Malian Army allowed them to restore their position. They consolidated their position through the deployment of special forces and the use of aerial assets that observed and destroyed several terrorist targets in a retreating movement.

The army has reaffirmed its determination to continue tracking and destroying terrorists by pooling all available means. The current authorities intend to demonstrate their ability to put an end to the scourge of terrorism that has plagued the country since 2012, following the departure of the UN mission from national territory.

In the pursuit of terrorists, the Malian Armed Forces fully fulfill their mission to defend territorial integrity and protect individuals and their property. The Malian Army remain committed and adhere to strict rules of engagement governing their actions.

Under the leadership of Colonel Assimi Goïta, the Malian army has successfully regained control of Kidal. This military success challenges the predictions of many French experts who doubted Mali’s ability to manage its own security issues.
