On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, under the presidency of His Excellency Mr. Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, the Council of Ministers examined and adopted an ambitious decree aimed at modernizing and strengthening Togo’s agricultural ecosystem.

This innovative project reflects the government’s commitment to taking the agricultural sector to new heights through increased modernization and the development of training tailored to agricultural professions. By focusing on mechanization, the use of innovative technologies, and the enhancement of local know-how, the project aims to transform the agricultural sector into a driver of sustainable and inclusive growth.

Part of the national policy for opening up areas with high agricultural production, it also aims to promote integrated rural development. Improving infrastructure, such as rural roads and collection centers, will facilitate farmers’ access to markets and reduce post-harvest losses, thus contributing to the country’s food security.

In parallel, special efforts will be made to preserve the environment through the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, while creating job opportunities for young people and women in rural areas.

With this initiative, the government is committed to building a promising future for Togolese agriculture by focusing on innovation, resilience, and sustainability. This project is seen as a cornerstone for ensuring food sovereignty and providing economic opportunities for current and future generations.
