Afrique/AES : Burkina Faso’s army on the front line against terrorism
Over the past year, a significant change has taken place on the military front. Thanks to internal reforms, the improvement of military arsenal, and strengthened cooperation under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Burkinabe armed forces have become more robust and efficient.
This increase in power was put to the test during an attack in the North-Central region of the country at the end of last week. At dawn, the locality was targeted by two suicide vehicles and shell fire. Despite the intensity of the assault, the response of the Burkinabe armed forces was swift and determined.
The national army’s counterattack not only managed to repel the assailants but also neutralized a significant number of terrorists. This victory demonstrates the resilience and growing strength of the Burkinabe army.
In addition to this direct engagement on the ground, the armed forces have also benefited from modernization of their equipment and intensive training.
The recent military successes are also the result of better coordination between the different branches of the army and internal security forces, fostering an integrated and effective response to crises. The Burkinabe army, now better equipped and better trained, positions itself as a key player in the fight against terrorism and the stabilization of the region.
