Alidu Seidu sidelined with serious injury: Rennes faces additional challenges
Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu of Rennes is set to be unavailable for several months following a serious knee injury. The injury occurred during Rennes’ 1-0 defeat to Lille in Ligue 1 on Sunday, just 18 minutes into the game. Seidu ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, a severe injury that typically requires an extended period of rehabilitation.
This injury comes at a particularly challenging time for Stade Rennais, who are already struggling this season. The team, recently managed by Jorge Sampaoli, currently sits in 15th place in the Ligue 1 standings, with only 11 points after 12 games. This marks the club’s lowest position in the top flight since 2002.
The combination of sporting instability and this serious injury adds to Rennes’ difficulties in turning their season around. Seidu’s long-term absence is a significant blow to the team’s defense, which has already been shaky this season. Both fans and club officials are hoping the team can find solutions to overcome these numerous challenges.
