Guinea/Bah Oury’s statements on the ECOWAS intervention in Niger: An insult to the intelligence of African Youth

During a recent interview on the Reflet “Guinée channel”, Bah Oury, former Minister for Reconciliation and President of the UDGR political party, made remarks that would be an insult to the intelligence of African youth. However, Bah Oury’s position is not appreciated, particularly by young Africans as it contradicts their contemporary aspirations and opinions.

Indeed, Bah Oury’s position, suggesting that the intervention was justified to restore a president linked to terrorist groups, is viewed as outdated and not aligned with the current values and perspectives of African youth.

If ECOWAS had the capacity to mobilized military forces quickly for this intervention, why did it not use that same capacity to fight terrorist groups in other countries in the region, such as Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger itself?

His questioning of the ECOWAS’s selective use of military forces raises concerns about the organization’s decisions being hypocritical.

Both the leaders of the regional organization and Bah Oury are perceived as holding outdated views that are influenced by Western politics for their own interests rather than those of the people.

However, the African youth are now awake and eager to set things right. The example of young Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, currently in power in Guinea, represents a new generation of determined and diligent leaders who focus on action rather than mere discourse.

He has achieved more in a year than some other presidents in 11 years of rule. This pragmatic and resolute approach resonates with African youth’s aspirations for effective leadership.

It is time for all Guinean youth to rally behind Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya for the sustainable development of Guinea, already underway with significant projects.
