Benin/Agroecology Week: GléGan offers certified organic inputs at reduced prices

The municipality of Abomey-Calavi in Benin, more precisely at Atda 7, comes alive from November 29 to December 2, 2023 with the fair of the National Week of Agroecology (Sae). This initiative, orchestrated by the Framework of National Concertation of Agroecology (CCN-AE) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, has the theme «Agroecology in the contexts of climate change».

The first edition of the Agroecology Week offers a series of activities such as visits to agroecological sites, communications and webinars on the agroecological transition, fairs presenting agroecological products, public conferences, television radio programs and video screenings.

These events aim to increase the visibility of the CCN-AE, to inform and raise public awareness on agroecology, to establish and strengthen partnerships. Among the exhibitors, the GléGan farm inputs and equipment shop stands out by offering organic inputs certified to international standards: ecocert, omri, shc. At the Sae, these inputs, including insecticides, bactericides, fungicides, and fertilizers, are available at reduced prices. The GléGan promoter is pleased with the interest generated by this initiative among visitors.

The National Agroecology Week aims to promote market access for agroecological products, to communicate on the transition level of agroecology in Benin, to raise awareness of the importance of safeguarding and promoting agroecology in the current climate change context.

The National Consultation Framework for Agroecology (CCN-AE), created in December 2022, plays a unifying role by bringing together all stakeholders involved in agroecology in Benin. Agroecology Week is part of the annual action plan of the CCN-AE, with an annual rotation between the northern and southern localities of the country.
