Burkina Faso / 3rd edition of the Arts and Culture Rendezvous : The event takes place from April 25 to April 28, 2024
The Vinnem Puiré Association (AVP) announced on February 17, 2024, the holding of the 3rd edition of the « Cissin Arts Festival » (FESTAC), renamed « Arts and Culture Rendezvous in Cissin » (RAC-CI), from April 25 to April 28, 2024, in Ouagadougou.
As part of the promotion of Burkinabe cultural heritage, the Vinnem Puiré Association (AVP) organizes a cultural festival called the « Festival des arts de Cissin », abbreviated as (FESTAC). This festival, now called « Arts and Culture Rendezvous in Cissin », abbreviated as « RAC-CI », acknowledges that the name « FESTAC » is used by several organizations. It will take place from April 25 to April 28, 2024, at the Palace of Youth and Culture Jean Pierre Guingané. This 3rd edition will be held under the theme « An independent culture as the foundation of real sovereignty of Burkina Faso ».
Through this theme, the association proposes cultural independence as a means to achieve sovereignty. « We believe that this fervor for the sovereignty of our country must go hand in hand with a cultural renaissance which consists of attaching ourselves more to our own cultures, by renouncing to live in the image of those we reject today », said Franck Bilgo, president of the organizing committee.
For Bénédicte Ouédraogo, also a member of the organizing committee of the festival, culture is a means of resilience in the face of adversity experienced by Burkina Faso. « This means will be used, on one hand, to promote this culture by encouraging our artists ». A conference-debate, cultural evenings punctuated by artistic performances, a market street, and awards for the best exhibitors are on the agenda for this edition.
