Agriculture: The authorities' determination is already bearing fruit...

In the field of agriculture, which is essential to the national economy, innovations have been introduced, contributing to its transformation and enabling it to fully play its role as an economic driver and job provider. Among these innovations is the introduction of new crops, such as wheat, which was once considered unsuitable for Burkinabe soil.

Since Captain Ibrahim Traoré came to power, his determination to transform this strategic sector is proving the opposite of what was always claimed by previous leaders and their imperialist allies. The experimental phase of wheat production in Burkina Faso is progressing quite well and shows promising results, with already satisfactory harvests.

The man on the ground, the spearhead of the President’s vision for agriculture, Commander Ismaël Sombié, has not missed the event. He was once again in the field, specifically in the Comoé province, Cascades region, to witness the mechanized wheat harvest at maturity. “We wonder how they convinced us that it was impossible”, he stated.

For those who remain skeptical, the minister called for attention to be given to local production, regardless of the crop. “I invite people to take note of the figures related to wheat flour imports and derivative products. They will understand the importance of engaging in local production and amplifying it”, he added. The authorities’ determination goes beyond technical support for production.

Development strategies are also being implemented by the government under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré for an efficient marketing of these products, first within the national territory, and elsewhere if necessary. The Burkinabe people are also encouraged to consume locally to boost local production and the transformation of products.
