The Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) held a renewal of its offices and those of the general commissions on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. This essential process for the continuity of parliamentary action led to the appointment of new members to key positions while maintaining the leadership of President Dr. Ousmane Bougouma.
Among the renewed positions, the four vice-presidencies saw the election of David Lompo (1st Vice-President), Haoua Fofana (2nd Vice-President), Hermann Yelkouny (3rd Vice-President), and Daouda Diallo (4th Vice-President). Their elections were marked by broad support, each receiving between 66 and 68 votes out of the 71 voters.
The parliamentary secretaries were also renewed, with François d’Assise SiĂ© Coulibaly, Fayçal Harold Thiombiano, Esther Bamouni Kansono, and Arnaud Tindano filling the four positions. All received strong backing, with scores ranging from 67 to 70 votes. Five general commissions also reorganized their offices:
- Commission on Institutional Affairs and Human Rights: Linda Gladys Kandolo retains the presidency, supported by four members to assist her work.
- Commission on Finance and Budget: Moussa Nombo was appointed president, with a similar team.
- Commission on Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Security: Jean-Marie Kombasséré remains president, continuing his work with four members.
- Commission on Gender, Health, and Social Action: Marie-Angèle Tiendrebeogo/Kalenzaga leads this strategic commission.
- Commission on Sustainable Development: Alain Hien Diédon was elected president, supported by a structured team.
During the session, President Dr. Ousmane Bougouma urged the new members to demonstrate diligence and responsibility. “The trust placed in you is an honor. Do not disappoint your colleagues or the nation we serve,” he stated. With these new appointments, the ALT now has a renewed team ready to face the challenges of the transition and work for the well-being of the Burkinabe people.
