Burkina Faso: An effective emergency response from the government of President Ibrahim Traoré to assist nearly two million vulnerable people

In response to the humanitarian crisis, the government of President Ibrahim Traoré has implemented an effective emergency response to provide food assistance to nearly two million vulnerable people. In parallel, one hundred and eight thousand households have received essential household items to improve their living conditions. Measures have also been taken for internally displaced persons and populations in extreme poverty, with housing and emergency shelters provided to more than sixty-eight thousand households.
In a dynamic of sustainable development, the government continued the implementation of major investment projects, such as the Local Economy Development Support Project and the Emergency Territorial Development and Resilience Project. These initiatives have led to the construction of five hundred socio-economic infrastructures spread across the country’s thirteen regions, thus strengthening the resilience of the population. Furthermore, concrete actions in favor of economic empowerment have allowed more than ninety-one thousand young people and women to access credit, while thirty thousand women have benefited from production and agro-sylvo-pastoral transformation equipment.
Thanks to these efforts, combined with an active strategy of reclaiming and securing the territory, Burkina Faso has made significant progress in the resettlement of internally displaced persons. To date, more than one million people have been able to return to their areas of origin, demonstrating the government’s commitment to restoring stability and ensuring a safer future for the entire population.
